Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)- an essential enzyme:  It has been called the body’s first enzymatic line of defense against free radicals. Our bodies are producing this substance all the time, but not enough to keep up with the stresses our environment places upon us. The action of free radicals can be likened to what happens to an apple when it has been sliced in half. The flesh of the apple goes brown due to oxidation. The same process is happening in our bodies within our cells.

There are 2 categories of Anti-oxidants and they are classified into 2 categories (1) Primary and (2) Secondary.  SOD It’s actually called a “Primary” antioxidant system, because it’s one of the major antioxidants that is produced by the body.
