How To Properly Detox The Body & Liver Daily

The Definition of Detoxification:

What your body does naturally to neutralize, transform or get rid of unwanted materials or toxins.

Some people detoxify once or twice a year.  Others never detoxify at all.  Those who do detoxify most likely go about it in a "nontraditional" way.  Many go thru several days of ridding the body of waste and toxins accumulated before the detox periods.  There many types or of way of detoxification.  You even have specific detoxification protocols for specific organs or parts of the body like: liver, digestive system, kidney, brain, skin, etc.

Have you thought about the amount of chemicals and toxin that you eat on a daily basis?  Thousands of chemicals are added to food and over 700 have been identified in drinking water. Fruits and vegetables are sprayed with toxic chemicals fertilizers or pesticides, animals are injected with potent hormones and antibiotics and a significant amount of our food is genetically engineered, processed, refined, frozen and cooked. The liver must try to cope with every toxic chemical in our environment and in our bodies, as well as damaged fats that are present in processed and fried foods.

What about the amount of contaminants that are inhaled by you on a daily basis, like: air pollution such as carbon monoxide, car exhaust system fumes, chemical air fresheners, insect repellents, cigarette smoke, various aerosol sprays, and even dusts.  All this can lead to the destruction of delicate vitamins and minerals, which are needed for the detoxification pathways in the liver.
Today I'm going to focus on the primary organ that is designed to detoxify the human body and that is the Liver. It is only the liver that can purify the bloodstream and we only have one liver.  You can not live without proper liver function for a long period of time.

What are the functions of the liver?

  • Your liver is the largest organ in the human body.
  • Apart from synthesizing and secreting bile, the liver acts as a filter for toxins and bacteria in the blood and chemically neutralizes toxins, converting them into substances that can be eliminated by the kidneys.
  • It is responsible for the production of bile which is stored in the gallbladder and released when required for the digestion of fats.
  • The liver stores glucose in the form of glycogen which is converted back to glucose again when needed for energy.
  • It also plays an important role in the metabolism of protein and fats. It stores the vitamins A, D, K, B12 and folate and synthesizes blood clotting factors.
  • Another important role is as a detoxifier, breaking down or transforming substances like ammonia, metabolic waste, drugs, alcohol and chemicals, so that they can be excreted. These may also be referred to as "xenobiotic" chemicals. If we examine the liver under a microscope, we will see rows of liver cells separated by spaces which act like a filter or sieve, through which the bloodstream flows. The liver filter is designed to remove toxic matter such as dead cells, microorganisms, chemicals, drugs and particulate debris from the bloodstream. The liver filter is called the sinusoidal system, and contains specialized cells known as Kupffer cells which ingest and break down toxic matter.

We clean our teeth daily, we wash our face, comb our hair, bathe on daily or every other day.  We like to look and smell clean because it makes us feel better. So why shouldn't you detoxify the body on a daily basis as well?  What, did you think detoxifying is only seasonal or bi-yearly?  No, there is a healthy way to detoxify naturally. Detoxify in such a way that your body will benefit from it naturally without any harsh detoxing programs. You don't have to worry about:
  • Being hostage to your bathroom for 3 to 5 days with enemas and flushes.
  • 10-15 different pills to take daily and still hostage to your toilet.
  • Consuming massive amount of olive oil.
  • 10 day drinking lemon-aid and cayenne pepper. It's called the "Master Cleanse".
  • Consuming Epson salt (how nasty and unhealthy is that).
  • Starving for 7+ days drinking only juices and then 2+ days of veggies before getting back to each solids.  (No wonder most people quit within 2 days)
